Vitiligo

Vitiligo is a pigmentation disorder in which melanocytes in the skin are destroyed. It results in depigmented/white patches of the skin in any location of the body. Some say that is caused by a weakened immune system, which attacks the cells and causes them not to function properly, and others say it is genetic. 0.5% to 1% of the worlds population have Vitiligo.
It is not painful, however it has many psychological and emotional consequences. In some countries, e.g India, women with the disease are sometimes discriminated against in marriage. Adolescents who are concerned about their appearance feel embarrassed and ashamed, and in many cases, become depressed.
I am very grateful for my model being an open enough person to not be ashamed of her appearance in such a judgemental world.
Here are some images of people who suffer from Vitiligo-
