Timed assessment Kristie

My timed assessment is going to be based on the look of Sally Bowles. Her makeup mirrors her profession and personality, being a cabaret dancer and singer.  She wears thick black eyeliner, has rosy cheeks. Her blue and purple eyeshadow contrasts with her thick black mascara, and also with her big red lips.
Her red lips are a main point of her makeup, as the colour red shows passion, confidence and is seductive.
Im adding a mole to the look just for a an extra, and i think they are beautiful.

Final Looks Update

Ive decided to take out the mask of my final images, as it distracts what i want to show. Also as only 1 image is allowed, it will be difficult to show everything in one.

Furthermore, my final look 1 has also changed. I am going to go for a more natural interpretation, so is image will not be as obvious as it seems. I want viewers to see it and think its a strange/diverse image, as there is a homosexual man dressed in a suit, looking like a woman. I would like people to look at the image twice, and think to themselves is this a female or a male.

I did look for an army jacket, but could not find one anywhere, or could i hire one, so i think a tuxedo and nice white shirt will still look as effect, maybe more.

I am really excited to shoot and create my final images.

Practice of timed assessment (Sally Bowles)

Today i practiced my look of Sally Bowles on my flatmate Manon. I really liked how the eyes came out, however i may decide to move the mole to underneath the eye.
Im going to experiment on myself tomorrow, just to make sure that all the foundations match to my skin etc. Photos will be up tomorrow.

Youtubers

Billy Miller is a youtuber who dedicates himself to doing drag makeup. I was really inspired by one of his videos of how to create the illusion of having breasts, and i hope to use this in my final image, so that when Kieran takes off his outfit, underneath he is dressed as drag, has breasts etc..

I shall research more into drag makeup and hopefully find some tips to help me with my outcome.

Zombie Man

This video is incredible, and it suits just what i want to portray with my project, how people cover up their true selves with make up. When first viewing the video, you would never imagine that this guy is covered literally head to toe in tattoos. Its crazy what makeup can do.

Final Idea 1

I think i have come up with my final ideas. I usually take forever to come up with them, and keep changing my ideas, however with this project, I'm 99% sure that i am satisfied with 2 of my final images. The third image i am a bit confused about, and need to

As i mentioned before, my whole project is based on diverse identity. I want to portray how people cover up, try and hide the truth of who they really are. Beauty is unique, everyone has their own story, no matter what shape, race, size, age, sexuality and disability. 

In all my 3 images i am going to involve a mask: somehow in the image all 3 models will look as if they have taken off the mask and underneath is something you don't expect.

Image 1: My friend Kieran, is going to be a professional business man or a army officer (depending on the costs), however im going to then later change him into a drag queen, (hidden under the mask. and the clothes.) The makeup will be beautifully done, with no exaggeration on the drag, so the image is not so obvious. High contouring will be applied, a light gloss on the lips, a smooth foundation and mascara.
He is a beautiful man, i must say, and has the most flawless skin.

It will also be a challenge as Kieran is 31 years of age, even though you cant see it, and i haven't worked on an older skin than a 21 year old before.

My Anita

In the studio session today, we had to interpret this photo of Anita Berber, photographed by Otto Dix. We had to imagine the makeup what she was wearing at the time of the photo, not how its shown on the photograph. I liked the challenge, as we had to design and do the makeup in the space of 2 hours, preparing me for the industry. We only focused on the makeup.

We also had to write down all the makeup used, how we used it, where it was placed, just as if working in the industry. We focused on the continuity part, and how when in the industry, the same makeup may have to be made weeks after, maybe even by another person, so they have to know what and how to do it, that is why writing everything down is so important.

Wig Work

                             

French platt the hair on both sides if its long, and pin the ends to the other side of the head, just like below.

Then get your model to do bunny ears, and help you put the stocking on. All hairs should be covered, then pin the stocking into the hair with pins, so its even more secure.
